Color and freshness: feel the summer colors

In this summery version of the 212 fragrance by Carolina Herrera, the characterstic cylinder appears wrapped between two ice cubes. Following the leitmotiv of On Ice, Minim proposes a display that is shaped like a block of ice, which contains the product and evokes the function of an ice tray. The color strip that is printed on the sides includes both the warm and the cool colors of the feminine and masculine fragrance bottles, while the yellow acts as a transition between the two.

The project

This project originated from the launch of a new summer edition of Carolina Herrera´s 212 perfume. Summer fragrances are typically fresh and light, and their design is usually rather informal and playful. For the On Ice packaging, the chosen leitmotif was color, and the starting point was a flask with a high visual impact.

After going over several concepts, we concluded that the product didn´t ask for a display that would add complexity and weight to it, but rather required a treatment that would let the bottle be the center of attention. Our goal was to direct the gaze towards the bottle at the point of sale. Our inspiration: color.

Feel the Summer Colors

The female fragrance´s packaging is predominantly red, a warm color, while the male fragrance appears in green and blue and exudes freshness. The challenge was to visually unify these two in a display that accentuated three concepts: Color, Summer, and Freshness.

The union of the red-orange (warm shades) and green-blue (cool shades) is achieved by using yellow as a transitional color. Yellow is also the color of summer, as it symbolizes the warmth of the sun. A continuous line of color, predominantly yellow and printed onto the display´s side, functions as a visual link between the female and the male fragrances.

The inspiration for the display design comes from a classical object: an ice cube tray. We propose a white display of substantial width, which resembles an ice block with its rounded edges. The fragrance appears embedded into it, as if it was being chilled.
