Fluidity and warmth in Almagro, Madrid
Fluidity and warmth in Almagro, Madrid
In this project by Puerto y Martín Arquitectos, in Madrid's Almagro neighbourhood, everything flows. The rooms open into each other with almost no interruption, and that fluidity shows in every corner: in the breadth of the rooms, in the lightness of the pieces chosen and in the comfort of living in the space. Warm tones, carried through to the flooring, reinforce that welcoming feel without giving up a contemporary edge, with design classics like the Superleggera chairs by Gio Ponti for Cassina, the Extra Soft sofa by Living Divani and the Tobi Ishi table by B&B Italia.
The kitchen is the heart of this home, originally designed by Gutiérrez Soto. The architects relocated it from its original layout to make it the centre of the day zone, in an L shape with an off-centre island that connects visually to the fireplace, the dining room and the city views. Designed together with bulthaup Madrid Claudio Coello, its champagne aluminium finish gives it a relaxed, contemporary feel without losing any elegance.
