Cantabile: the human voice from its physics to its metaphysics

Barcelona

MINIM Barcelona has the honor of hosting the conference "Cantabile: the human voice from its physics to its metaphysics", given by Dr. Carlos Calderón Urreiztieta, next Thursday, May 18 at 7:30 p.m. A unique opportunity to enjoy his deep knowledge of art and music, in an entertaining, colloquial and relaxed format.

Trained in Architecture and simultaneously in Music, with complete studies in violin, history, aesthetics and philosophy, Dr. Calderón will bring us closer to the world of art and music from the most essential. A “back to basics” that reveals why the voice, considered as the perfect instrument, moves us so much and how singing appeals to reason as well as emotion. From matter to idea, from organism to artifice, from physics to metaphysics.

Dr. Calderón will talk about the preparation that an instrument as complete as the vocal apparatus requires, as well as about the physical work and the different classifications of the voice. Through numerous audiovisual examples, we will have the opportunity to understand and gauge the difficult task faced by a singer.

“From gravity to lightness, the voice runs to represent the equally varied world of emotions. And with this, we enter metaphysical terrain whose explanation requires all the aesthetic apparatus that, throughout history, societies have been developing to answer the simple question: Why does that move me?” Dr. Calderon.
