MINIM presents the Christmas window designed by winner of Habitácola Awards 2018

“The great designs were also dreams at first. This Christmas, dream!" This is the slogan that Edu Macías has chosen for the Christmas showcase. He has designed it especially for the MINIM Barcelona showroom. Edu Macías is the winner of the MINIM Prize in the XXX edition of the Habitácola Awards that Arquin-FAD delivers every year.

Last Tuesday, December 18, at 8 p.m., the presentation of the MINIM Christmas shop window in the showroom of Via Augusta, 185 was made. This event brought together:  the designer of the shop window, Edu Macías, the Board of ArquinFAD, members of the Jury from the XXX edition of the Habitácola Awards, teachers of the Municipal School of Art and Design of Terrassa in which Macías was a student, representatives of MINIM, colleagues and professionals in the sector.

Edu Macías had won the 2018 Habitácola Awards with his proposed bus stop “Matrioixka”. Through this showcase he involves us into the essence of the Christmas spirit in an elegant, minimalist and contemporary way. He moves away from stereotypes and centers his attention in the good design. A proposal that perfectly complied with the briefing indicated by MINIM and that has had a very good reception by all.

The shop window is made with a very minimalist graphic that reminds to the tree balls of Christmas. It presents miniatures of iconic pieces such as La Chaise longue LC4 designed by Le Corbusier, Pierre Jeanneret & Charlotte Perriand (1928), the armchair Dezza by Gio Ponti (1965), the Armchair 41 “Paimio” by Alvar Aalto, (1932), the armachair Serie Up 2000 by Gaetano Pesce (1969), the Womb Chair by Eero Saarinen (1948), the Chaise by Charles and Ray Eames (1948), the Wassily Chair by Marcel Breuer (1925), the Butterfly by Antonio Bonet, Juanito Kurchan & Jorge Ferrari-Hardoy (1938) and the pouf Sacco by Piero Gatti, Cesare Paolini & Franco Teodoro (1968). All of these miniatures are illuminated with Heracleum II from Bertjan Pot (2010). These pieces were dreams at the beginning but now they are dressing the shop window of MINIM. This fact invites us to dream and fight to make our dreams come true.

The shop window can be visited until January 8, 2019 at MINIM Barcelona ((Via Augusta, 185 · Barcelona).
